Peotone Travel Center Solar

Electrical design for existing travel center in Illinois includes rooftop solar

Location: Peotone, Illinois
Services: Electrical
Category: Travel center
Area: 22,157 sq. ft.
Software: Bluebeam, Revit

An electrical design team from 3S MEP + Structural surveyed the electrical distribution system of this travel center in Illinois to create a solar panel layout on the roof.

The team also produced a three-line wiring diagram for the solar array.

The layout for the solar panels meets local code and client requirements.

A significant challenge was in distributing the panels in the solar string to accommodate them in the solar inverter’s MPPT input.

The solar calculations were based on the average city temperature and the NEC 120-percent rule.

With all 3S MEP projects, a primary focus is integrating MEP and structural designs with the construction and architectural partners and the end-users to minimize the need for design adjustments or revisions during the construction process. Design teams from 3S MEP actively engage with all stakeholders to identify potential conflicts and optimize overall system layout. Our teams are exceptionally proficient at harmonizing essential building elements for successful outcomes.
